Current Positions Available:

Shelter Aid Assistant: 30 Hours per Week;  Sunday, Monday,Tuesday; 10pm-8am

Job Description:

  • Monitoring the Overnight Emergency Shelter from 10pm-8am
  • Ensuring guest safety
  • Assisting the custodain with clean-up
  • Preparing the agency's day room after shelter guests leave the facility

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate's Degree preferred
  • Two to Five years experience working with diverese and challenging clients
  • Strong communication Skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to recognize and respond in an emergency
  • Ability to interact effectively with the public, volunteers, staff, and program participants

 

Front Desk/Security: Per Diem – Days, Evenings & Weekends ~ Schedule will vary with need

16 Hours Weekly- Saturday & Sunday ~ various shifts avaliable

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, Associate’s Degree preferred

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP):  Part-time Staff Position

Job Description:

Responsible for providing psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis and treatment recommendations for clients exhibiting symptoms of mental illness, cognitive disabilities, substance abuse disorders.  This position also provides assessment, medication management, and transitional planning to community providers.

  • Conducts psychiatric evaluation, medication assessments, and crisis response to new and existing clients
  • Develops individual service plans
  • Provides therapeutic interventions as necessary including the provision of on-going medication management services
  • Collaborates with Social Work team
  • Maintain required reports and records

 Requirements:

  • Licensure in New York Stat as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with a minimum of two years experience working with persons who have serious mental illness, with preference of experience working with the homeless and a diverse population
  • Extensive knowledge of the etiology of serious mental illness, cognitive disabilities, and substance abuse disorders
  • Knowledge of appropriate therapeutic interventions including psychopharmacology
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of computerized systems
  • Knowledge of agencies, programs, and services in the community
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment
  • Valid, Clean NYS Driver’s License, essential
  • Own vehicle

Full-time Staff Position

Certified Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counselor

Job Description: Perform drug and alcohol assessments and re-assessments and/or drug screens.  Provide information for and attend Fair Hearings as requested and attend family court to testify in hearings.

  • Make Chemical Dependency determinations based on assessments/re-assessments
  • Identify and schedule (re-)assessment/drug screen with appropriate providers
  • Review and resolve case disputes
  • Review and approve requests for level of care changes
  • Review requests for out of county services
  • Review attendance and progress reports
  • Provide additional information for and attend Fair Hearings
  • Defend assessment determinations in Fair Hearings
  • Act as liaison between community providers and SCDSS
  • Attend family court proceedings and provide testimony

 

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Human Services or related field with 5 years CASAC experience OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field with 3 years CASAC experience
  • CASAC certification
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of computerized systems
  • Knowledge of agencies, programs, and services in the community
  • Knowledge of eligibility criteria and application processes for mainstream/entitlement programs
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment
  • Valid, Clean NYS Driver’s License, essential
  • Own vehicle
